Złota Pętla Ziemi Kłodzkiej is a touring idea through Lower Silesia that brings together spa towns, fortresses, former mining sites and Sudeten mountain scenery. Traveller and photojournalist Albin Marciniak devised and documented the loop, which he presents as an itinerary that can also be adapted for cycling.

From Ząbkowice to the Golden Mountains

Marciniak’s loop begins and ends in Ząbkowice Śląskie, a town associated with the Frankenstein legend. Its Leaning Tower and castle ruins give riders reasons to spend time in town before exploring the wider region.

The itinerary connects Kamieniec Ząbkowicki and the palace of Princess Marianne of Orange with Złoty Stok and its gold mine. The Lower Silesian Tourist Organisation also lists both attractions among places associated with the loop. Beyond them, the route idea reaches the Golden Mountains and the spa town of Lądek-Zdrój.

Mountain scenery and historic towns

The author’s wider circuit includes Stronie Śląskie, Kletno and the Śnieżnik massif, followed by Międzygórze and the Wilczki waterfall. The sanctuary at Igliczna adds another landmark before Bystrzyca Kłodzka, whose defensive walls and towers feature in the route description.

Further stops include Gorzanów and Kłodzko, with its fortress and historic centre. Srebrna Góra and its mountain fortress complete the sequence before the loop returns to Ząbkowice Śląskie. These places combine natural and cultural stops, so a trip can be organised around the sights a rider most wants to explore.

Planning the cycling version

Marciniak describes the project as adaptable for different ways of travelling and suggests riding the route or choosing individual sections. His detailed circuit is principally presented as a walking itinerary, so its named mountain landmarks should be used as trip-planning references rather than assumed to form a fully specified rideable line.

Plan the bicycle itinerary between your chosen stops and check the suitability and permitted use of individual roads and paths. The Lower Silesian Tourist Organisation points visitors to regional PTTK tourist-route maps. Allow separate time for attractions you want to visit and check their current visitor information before setting out.
