Rebellion Way is Cycling UK’s approximately 373 km bikepacking loop around Norfolk, starting from Norwich. It combines quiet, mostly flat back roads with byways, cycle paths and bridleways for a journey across rural eastern England.
Two rebellions in the landscape
The route’s name recalls Boudicca’s revolt against Roman rule and Robert Kett’s rebellion over land enclosure. Leaving Norwich, the itinerary passes Venta Icenorum, the former capital of the Iceni, where settlement remains can still be seen.
The return passes Kett’s Heights, associated with the 1549 uprising. Sections of Boudicca Way that permit cycling are also incorporated into the route.
On-road and off-road riding
The mix of lanes and trails introduces multi-day touring on different surfaces, with woodland, villages and open Norfolk skies along the way. Cycling UK also publishes a trike-and-trailer alternative developed with Experience Community after testing with a handcycle and trailer.
