Pierścień Rowerowy Dookoła Poznania, the cycling ring around Poznań, connects places across the countryside surrounding the city. Wielkopolska Organizacja Turystyczna describes a route without a fixed beginning or end, supported by seven connecting trails from Poznań. Riders should plan around the closed Biedrusko military training area rather than follow the former route through it.
A ring with seven spokes
The main route circles the Poznań area, roughly following the boundaries of Poznań County. Its attractions include Kórnik Castle, Rogalin Palace, Lake Kierskie and the forests of Puszcza Zielonka. Wielkopolska National Park, Rogalin Landscape Park and Promno Landscape Park bring different protected landscapes into the same itinerary.
The regional tourism organisation describes seven connecting routes between the ring and a common cycling junction at the south-western end of Lake Malta in Poznań. They meet the ring at different points, making it possible to choose a section instead of riding the whole circuit. The main trail marker has a black bicycle on a white background with an orange border.
Parks and historic places
On the southern side, Mosina offers a choice of directions: towards Stęszew through Wielkopolska National Park, or towards Kórnik via the Rogalin palace complex. Mosina's municipal guide describes the national park section passing near Lake Góreckie and continuing towards Lake Witobelskie and Stęszew.
Towards Rogalin, the Warta valley and its riverside woodland provide a setting for the palace and its park. The municipal guide also points out the old wooden church at Rogalinek. Elsewhere around the ring, the regional tourism organisation highlights the moraine hills of Puszcza Zielonka and Dziewicza Góra, with its distinctive observation tower.
The Biedrusko closure
The former section through the Biedrusko military training area is closed to civilian traffic. Do not plan to cross the military grounds. Wielkopolska Organizacja Turystyczna proposes a temporary diversion along the area's southern side: from Biedrusko use the cycle path towards Radojewo, then Poligonowa to Morasko and Meteorytowa to Gajowa.
VeloPlanner describes a proposed continuation via Bogusławskiego, Kalinowa in Złotniki, Pagórkowa and Łagiewnicka. It identifies the diversion as unsigned and says that part follows yellow cycle-route signs. Check current local information and signs before setting out, particularly where the diversion rejoins the ring.
Putting a ride together
Choose the landscape or stop that interests you first, then use the connecting trails to build a shorter outing. The ring has no single prescribed starting point. Its varied terrain includes moraine hills, while VeloPlanner describes a mix of asphalt, stony and sandy surfaces.
For further ideas, Koleje Wielkopolskie presents 15 outings from Poznań County's Sunday cyclist guide, grouped by railway line. The collection offers a way to explore individual areas around the ring, with descriptions of attractions and characteristic points along each outing.
