Nynäsleden connects central Stockholm with Nynäshamn, taking riders from the capital through the Södertörn peninsula to the Baltic coast. Created by Svenska Cykelsällskapet, the Swedish Cycling Society, it passes historic landscapes, lakes and rural communities before reaching the sea.

From Stockholm towards Södertörn

The Swedish Cycling Society's route guide places the Stockholm end at City Hall. From there the itinerary crosses Gamla stan and continues via Fjällgatan and Vita Bergen on Södermalm, before passing Globen and Gamla Enskede.

Farther south, the route heads towards Drevviken, where Sweden by Bike identifies several swimming spots. Lissma and Ådran follow on the journey into Södertörn, a peninsula between Södertälje, Nynäshamn and Dalarö. Lakes and historic landscapes give the ride a different character from its city opening.

Through the countryside to the coast

South of Ådran, the published itinerary names Västerby, Grödby, Väggarö, Ösmo, Söderby and Norsbol on the way to Nynäshamn. Nynäshamn municipality highlights rune stones and bathing lakes among the attractions of the surrounding landscape.

The cycling society's guide describes the approach to Nynäshamn from the south, passing Nynäs gård, Nicksta and Lövhagen. It then follows Strandvägen beside the sea into town, where the guide places the endpoint near the tourist office and railway station. This coastal arrival gives riders a reason to leave time for the town rather than treating it solely as the end of the ride.

Signs, conditions and practical stops

Look for green Nynäsleden signs. From Tungelsta southwards, the route is also signed as Kustlinjen, using red signs. The two named routes share this section but are separate itineraries; Svenska Cykelsällskapet lists Nynäsleden among its maintained regional routes.

Sweden by Bike notes that some sections run alongside busy roads. Its Swedish route page reported on 7 October 2026 that the gravel section of Ådravägen was in very poor condition, with loose, sharp pieces of asphalt making cycling difficult and risky. Check for an updated report before setting out and take particular care there.

For a practical stop near the southern end, Nynäshamn municipality lists bicycle pumps in central Nynäshamn, beside Nynäshamn station and at the bus square in Ösmo. The municipality also points riders to a route map from Sweden by Bike.
