Nadbużański Szlak Rowerowy brings together a succession of places along Poland’s Bug valley. Siemiatycze Municipality describes a route from Wyszków through Drohiczyn, Siemiatycze, Terespol and Włodawa to Horodło. The journey combines protected river landscapes with towns and villages shaped by the region’s mix of cultures and faiths.

From Wyszków towards Drohiczyn

The municipal itinerary begins at Wyszków and names Kamieńczyk, Treblinka and Jabłonna Lacka before reaching Tonkiele, Wólka Zamkowa and Drohiczyn. This sequence provides a way to select a northern section without assuming that the route stays immediately beside the water throughout.

Drohiczyn is a place to pause above the valley. The county tourism portal describes Góra Zamkowa, on ul. Zamkowa, as a viewpoint over the Bug. Archaeological work revealed the outline of stone foundations belonging to the former castle; an obelisk now stands on the hill.

Through the middle Bug valley

Beyond Drohiczyn, the municipality lists Siemiatycze, Turna Mała, Serpelice and Janów Podlaski among the places on its itinerary. Its description emphasises the Bug valley’s natural landscape, protected in landscape parks, nature reserves and protected landscape areas.

The region’s history is another reason to leave time for stops. Siemiatycze Municipality describes a borderland of different cultures, religions and nationalities, with both religious and secular historic sites. Around Janów Podlaski, the regional tourism portal highlights the town’s connection with Arabian horse breeding.

Terespol, Kodeń and Jabłeczna

The listed route continues through Terespol, Kodeń and Jabłeczna, then Włodawa, Sobibór and Dorohusk towards Horodło. These places offer distinct perspectives on the region’s religious heritage. The Lubelskie tourism portal identifies St John the Theologian Orthodox Church in Terespol and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Kodeń in St Anne’s Basilica.

At Jabłeczna, St Onuphrius Orthodox Monastery and its chapels make another possible stop. Local tradition connects the monastery’s foundation with an icon carried by the Bug. The regional tourism description notes that the monastery was rebuilt after wartime damage.

Planning the ride

This is a linear itinerary, so select a practical pair of towns for the distance you want to cover and plan how to return. The Siemiatycze County tourism portal warns that signage is poor and recommends using GPS navigation rather than relying on trail signs alone.

Use the municipal route guide to plan sections towards Horodło and check the alignment for your chosen ride before setting out.
