MainRadweg follows the Main from its source regions towards its mouth, crossing Franconia and Hesse. The route’s almost 600 km combine river landscapes with towns, vineyards and local brewing traditions.
Following the river’s changing regions
The Main’s winding course takes the journey through different landscapes and local cultures. Wine-growing country and beer-cellar traditions provide contrasting food and drink stops along the same river itinerary.
The official route portal separates the places, regions and sights along the way, allowing the trip to be planned around cultural visits as well as riding distance.
Stages, navigation and services
Suggested stages, a tour planner, signposting information and GPS data are available through the route website. A compact route companion gathers useful information for carrying during the ride.
Service listings include bicycle hire, repair workshops, e-bike hire and charging points. Accommodation, public transport and arrival or departure information support point-to-point touring.
Ferries and current notices
The portal publishes ferry information, diversions and high- or low-water notices. Check these when planning stages, since construction, water levels, events or changed ferry hours can affect a river journey.
