La Véloscénie connects Paris with Mont-Saint-Michel on approximately 450 km of signposted cycling route. The journey passes through the Chevreuse valley, the Perche and Normandy’s countryside, combining cultural landmarks with greenways and quieter roads.
Leaving Paris through the Chevreuse valley
The Paris departure starts on Île de la Cité before continuing through the city and onto the green corridor towards Massy. The early itinerary offers a route via Versailles and Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse to Rambouillet.
Another option from Massy runs through Limours and Saint-Arnoult before reaching Rambouillet, using former railway and experimental aérotrain alignments along the way.
Chartres, the Perche and Normandy
Maintenon’s château and Chartres Cathedral are among the main cultural stops. Beyond Chartres, Illiers-Combray introduces connections with Marcel Proust before the route enters the wooded hills of the Perche.
Alençon’s lace heritage and Bagnoles-de-l’Orne’s thermal town setting add further stops on the journey towards the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel.
