From Halmstad into the Nissan valley
Halmstad Castle is a convenient reference point for the circuit and a connection with the coastal Kattegattleden. From central Halmstad, Hylteleden heads past Norre Katts Park, Örjans Vall stadium and Slottsmöllan towards Åled, before continuing into the Nissan valley.
The journey moves from the city into a landscape of smaller communities, woodland and pasture. Sweden by Bike describes the route continuing north through the valley to Hyltebruk, then towards Jälluntofta and Unnaryd.
Lakes and villages in the Hylte countryside
The inland part of the ride passes through the province of Småland while remaining within Halland County. Lakes, forest and open farmland give this part of the circuit a different setting from the streets of Halmstad.
Visit Hylte suggests a stop at Nissaryds skans, a defensive site built in the 1540s when the area bordered Denmark. Its cycling guide also points riders towards Jälluntofta beside Lake Jällunden and the village of Unnaryd, where Bonadsmuseet offers an introduction to traditional painted wall hangings.
Return through Simlångsdalen
From the Unnaryd area, the circuit turns south towards the Fylleån valley and Simlångsdalen before returning to Halmstad. The official guide identifies places to eat and stay in Simlångsdalen, making it a useful area to consider when dividing the ride into sections.
Sweden by Bike describes a mixture of asphalt and gravel and identifies the red signs marked 100 Hylteleden. Its route description also notes that the final part runs largely parallel to Banvallsleden.

The route's official guide says riders can start and finish at any point on the loop. Its map shows attractions, rest areas and places to visit; use it to choose stops and an entry point that fit your plans. Visit Hylte recommends booking accommodation ahead.
Halmstad Central Station is close to the castle, and the route guide lists train and regional bus connections to Halmstad.
