ER-6 Dolina Bobru traces the Bóbr valley from Žacléř in Czechia to Bolesławiec in Poland, linking borderland towns with the landscapes of the Western Sudetes. Lwówek Śląski County and the Town of Žacléř have produced an audio guide to the route as part of their cross-border tourism work.

From the border to Kamienna Góra

The county's audio guide describes ER-6 as a journey from Žacléř to Bolesławiec. On the Polish side, Kamienna Góra municipality's cycling guide follows the route from the former border crossing at Lubawka through Błażkowa, Janiszów and Przedwojów to Kamienna Góra.

Lubawka's market square and churches provide a reason to pause near the border. Farther north, Kamienna Góra offers the Weaving Museum and historic churches. The municipal guide then traces ER-6 through Ptaszków, Dębrznik, Marciszów, Ciechanowice and Miedzianka; it also highlights the palace and church at Ciechanowice.

Jelenia Góra and the river gorge

Beyond the Kamienna Góra area, the route continues towards Jelenia Góra. The regional cycling guide describes the stretch to Siedlęcin as a ride through the Borowy Jar gorge on a narrow path shared by walkers and cyclists. Perła Zachodu lies along this section, while the knight's tower in Siedlęcin provides another landmark.

This is one part of a much longer itinerary. Wleń's municipal description places ER-6 among the landscapes of Rudawy Landscape Park and the Bóbr Valley Landscape Park, with the Pilchowice dam and reservoir among the places to discover in the latter.

Towards Wleń and Bolesławiec

The route's northern half brings riders past the Pilchowice area and Wleń, then towards Lwówek Śląski and Bolesławiec. The regional cycling guide describes a change in character after Siedlęcin: riding beside Jezioro Wrzeszczyńskie is followed by more demanding terrain around Barcinek and the dam.

The same guide describes a damaged section after Nielestno where riders may need to push, and a ford on a forest section beyond Wleń. Its account of the approach to Bolesławiec includes more paved roads and field gravel. These details make the middle section particularly useful to study before choosing a shorter ride.

Planning the ride

The county describes a route that stays close to the Bóbr where possible, while using roads also open to motor traffic and including unpaved stretches. Do not expect a continuous segregated riverside cycleway. Long, steep climbs are uncommon in the county's overall description, but individual sections can still be demanding.

The regional guide suggests breaking the linear journey into sections and notes roots that can become wet after rain, loose stones and steep ground in the Siedlęcin-to-Wleń area. Choose a bicycle and daily itinerary with those conditions in mind. The county and Žacléř audio guide offers further context for exploring the cross-border route.
