Ennsradweg follows the Enns from Flachauwinkl to the town of Enns at the Danube. Its approximately 263 km cross Salzburg, Styria and Upper Austria, changing from Alpine scenery to river valleys and historic towns.
Mountains and towns along the river
The route begins at about 1,026 m and finishes near 240 m. Landscapes include the Dachstein, Grimming and Niedere Tauern, followed by the Gesäuse and Reichraminger Hintergebirge.
Radstadt, Schladming, Admont and Steyr provide town stops along the journey. Flachau Tourism grades the route easy to moderate and describes it as better suited to ambitious touring cyclists.
Six-day or four-day itineraries
The classic six-stage plan runs Flachauwinkl–Schladming–Irdning–Admont–Weyer–Steyr–Enns. The longest listed day is Admont–Weyer at about 68 km.
A sportier four-day plan uses Irdning, Mooslandl and Großraming as overnight stage points, with daily distances of roughly 48–79 km. Allow additional time for sightseeing.
Visiting the river’s source
The Enns rises at about 1,783 m near the Ennskraxn. The source is reached on foot, so a visit there is a separate walking excursion from the cycle route.
