Dolce Via follows a former railway through the Ardèche, linking the Eyrieux valley with branches towards Lamastre and Saint-Agrève. The approximately 90 km itinerary connects riverside landscapes, gorges and the region’s industrial history.
Along the Eyrieux valley
From La Voulte-sur-Rhône, the route reaches Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux in 20 km, then Pont de Chervil in another 14 km. Stone-built former silk mills recall the valley’s manufacturing past.
The next 14 km reach Le Cheylard through the Eyrieux gorges, with chestnut woodland becoming part of the scenery.
Branches into the hills
From Le Cheylard, an 8 km section climbs towards Les Nonières over bridges and viaducts, with views over Les Collanges lake. A further 12 km connect Les Nonières and Lamastre.
The upper Eyrieux branch continues 7 km from Le Cheylard to Saint-Martin-de-Valamas, known for jewellery making, then 17 km towards Saint-Agrève.
Connections and shorter trips
Dolce Via can be reached from ViaRhôna and linked with the Train de l’Ardèche or Velay Express tourist railways. The official site offers suggested two-, three- and six-day breaks, plus brochures and maps. Check its current notices when planning sections affected by works or events.
