Cantii Way is Cycling UK’s touring loop through east Kent, starting and finishing at Wye near Ashford. Canterbury, Whitstable, Folkestone and Dover connect countryside riding with coastal towns and the county’s history.

A multi-day introduction to Kent

The 2022 launch described a roughly 234 km journey that could be ridden over three or four days. Regular railway stations along the route also allow the loop to be divided between several weekends.

Quiet lanes, byways, bridleways and cycle routes make up the itinerary, including part of the North Downs Way Riders’ Route. Cycling UK designed it for riders of reasonable fitness using a range of bicycle types.

History and local food

The name comes from the Cantii, the Iron Age tribe associated with Kent. Near the beginning of the ride, the Wye Crown provides another connection to the county’s history.

Orchards, vineyards, traditional hop-drying oast houses and farms accompany the better-known towns. The route gives opportunities to stop at local shops, pubs and tea rooms along the way.
