Bergslagsrundan is a 200 km loop through Sweden’s Bergslagen region, linking small towns and villages with a landscape shaped by mining and ironworking. Bergslagen Cycling presents it as a six-stage journey from Nora, with alternative routing and shortcuts for riders who prefer a shorter circuit.
A loop through Bergslagen
The itinerary starts and finishes in Nora. Bergslagen Cycling lists the stage sequence as Nora, Guldsmedshyttan, Kloten, Kopparberg, Sikfors, Loka and back to Nora. Together, the six stages make a 200 km circuit; they can also be tackled individually.
Bergslagen tourism identifies Nora station as the starting point. Nora provides a clear reference for planning the full loop, while the named stage destinations give riders places around which to organise a shorter trip.
Forests and industrial history
The route passes through small settlements and old mining areas in northern Örebro County. Sweden by Bike describes forests and lakes alongside traces of the region’s ironworking past, including mines, ironworks and old smelting sites.
The riding combines asphalt and gravel. Sweden by Bike notes that the route occasionally follows a busy road, so expect a mixture of road environments rather than a continuously traffic-free path.
Choosing stages and finding the way
Bergslagsrundan is not signposted. Before setting out, consult Bergslagen Cycling’s digital route information or its dedicated brochure. Bergslagen tourism also says overview maps are available from the tourist office.
The route includes an alternative alignment and several shortcuts. These make it possible to choose part of the itinerary and still put together a shorter loop, instead of committing to all six stages at once. Check the route information when selecting a variation.
Bergslagen Cycling says accommodation is listed at least at the beginning and end of each stage. Its brochure is available digitally and can also be picked up at Nora tourist office; a selection is available at stage destinations. Check individual services when arranging overnight stops.
