Denmark’s Baltic Sea Route, national cycle route N8, forms an approximately 820 km figure of eight through southern Denmark and its Baltic islands. The two loops meet at Svendborg on southern Fyn.

Coasts, islands and ferries

The itinerary stays close to the coast for much of its course and includes natural paths. Four ferry connections are part of the main route, with further small ferry journeys offering additional possibilities.

Its 14-stage structure allows a longer island-hopping journey or a selection of shorter sections. The ferry links are part of the route’s character and need to fit into your daily plan.

Following national route N8

The route is continuously signposted with the number 8. VisitDenmark links to a route map on Naviki for planning the itinerary.

This guide covers Denmark’s national N8 route through the southern islands and coastline. Its figure-of-eight layout makes Svendborg a useful reference when choosing between the two loops.
